We have recruited nine supporting organizations from four areas (in the figure below) crucial to the development of new technology and applications in this project. Users include two community organizations (USI and C&CP) that represent the needs and priorities of institutions and owners who initiate new plans and projects, establish goals, targets, budgets and schedules, maintain crucial data sets, and maintain and operate the built results; and, a professional planning and design firm (Busby, Perkins and Will) noted for its innovation in design for sustainability that works directly with institutions and sponsors and their clients (building users, project managers, operations and maintenance, for example) to design new high performance buildings, infrastructure and communities. Software developers include three companies that create software and software tools for three scales of planning and design — buildings (AutoDesk), communities and cities (CloverPoint and Galdos). Hardware developers include a company that creates large scale collaboration and display interfaces (SMART Techhnologies). Data management developers include one company (SAP) that creates tools to optimize enterprise scale data management and another (Pulse) that creates energy monitoring, management, and display tools.
